Band Log:
As mentioned above this is David's second stint with Beeston. The first nine years (1979-1988) were spent in Grade 2, competing hard against the likes of Wolverhampton and Pride of Murray. In 1988 David left to take over as Lead Tip of a Grade 4 band just up the road at Ashbourne, joining his old friend P/M James Dungavel - James was also a recent Beeston leaver at that time. Over the next eleven years Ashbourne enjoyed mixed fortunes, but managed to win the All-England Drumming in Grade 4 on two occasions and came maddeningly second more times than might be wished. David's wife, Lynn - also now a member here at Beeston - took up the sticks during this period and took over control of the Bass/Tenor corps for a few years with several Best Bass prizes to their credit.
After Ashbourne there then followed a whirlwind period when, through no fault or design, they found themselves changing band every couple of years. They even managed to retire completely from actively playing for all of two years before the pull was just too strong and both joined their eldest son, Cailean, who had been competing successfully with Beeston for over a year; full circle in England!
David's other hobbies include computers (he is the current webmaster for this website - sorry!), science fiction and taking lots of "power naps"!
